DRIVER RECOUNTS WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE BRIGHTLINE TRAIN SLAMMED INTO HER CAR

A DRIVER'S WRONG TURN LED TO A TRAIN CRASH WEDNESDAY MORNING IN HALLANDALE BEACH, FLORIDA. Fortunately, the driver had left her car long before the train approached and pushed the vehicle about 500 feet before coming to a stop.

Driver Margarita Hall said had meant to turn onto Dixie Highway before accidentally driving onto the railroad tracks.

The Hallandale Beach Fire Rescue reported that Ms. Hall proceeded to call 911 in which the dispatcher informed her that a train was coming.

All 28 passengers who were aboard the Brightline train were not injured.

FORT PIERCE: BRIGHTLINE WANTS TO BUILD STATION, HOTEL AT H.D. KING SITE DOWNTOWN

BRIGHTLINE HAS ITS SIGHTS ON THE WATERFRONT H.D. KING SITE AS A LOCATION FOR A RAIL STATION HOTEL, said City Manager Nick Mimms due to its “proximity to a walkable downtown, beautiful waterfront and multi-modal transportation.”

On August 27, Brightline had asked officials in Treasure Coast counties to submit proposals of viable station locations in their area and community support. Fort Pierce proposed a location across from the main H.D. King site, which has been under development for the past decade to become a mixed-use project.

A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN | BRIGHTLINE'S "SPIRIT-ED" SOLUTION

IN RECENT NEWS, BRIGHTLINE HAS BEEN ASKING TREASURE AND SPACE COAST COUNTIES FOR ADDITIONAL STOPS. However, by adding more stations, Brightline's promise to get passengers from West Palm Beach to Orlando in less than two hours will be compromised. Their solution: "catch a train."

This idea suggests that passengers will exit and board a moving train, stating it would be "just like the way you get on the Haunted Mansion ride at Walt Disney World."
