Citizens Against Rail Expansion in Florida (CARE) continues to actively pursue all possible legal, political and public communication channels to stop the ill-conceived All Aboard Florida (AAF) rail project that threatens the public safety and current way of life of communities throughout the Treasure Coast.

FRA REBUKES AAF FOR OMITTING MANDATORY SAFETY REQUIREMENTS IN PLANS

Martin County has consistently maintained that threats to public safety are the most troubling facets of the proposed All Aboard Florida (AAF a.k.a Brightline) passenger rail project and related increases in freight rail. From the outset, AAF has sought to dictate the terms of what it will and will not do when it comes to safety requirements at grade crossings.

Work to lay railroad track for All Aboard Florida’s Brightline passenger rail service will block Okeechobee Boulevard for four days in May.

Brightline is laying a second line of track along the Florida East Coast right-of-way, just west of Okeechobee’s interesection with Quadrille Boulevard. Eastbound and westbound lanes of Okeechobee will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday, May 13 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 17.

Workers will be on-site 24 hours a day during this time.
