LNG, BRIGHTLINE TO SHARE FLORIDA EAST COAST RAILWAY, COULD ENDANGER PUBLIC

CARE FL HAVE EVIDENCE THAT HIGHLY COMBUSTIBLE HAZARDOUS MATERIAL, LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS, WOULD BE HAULED ALONGSIDE BRIGHTLINE PASSENGER TRAINS ALONG THE FLORIDA EAST COAST RAILWAY TRACKS.  This could pose serious safety hazards to those living in the densely populated areas along the tracks, as well as passing passenger trains travelling at the speed of 110 mph, the counties and CARE FL said.

"We know any release of LNG in a non-controlled environment is dangerous, but the transportation of large quantities of LNG in a single train presents a unique safety risk," Karl Alexy, Federal Railroad Administration hazardous-materials division staff director, said in an email to Florida East Coast.
