BRIGHTLINE/VIRGIN TRAINS USA PLANS TO BUILD BARRIERS AS WELL AS TESTING INFRARED SENSORS AND DRONES. These plans are in response to being reported as the "deadliest railroad in the U.S." Since its initial tests in January 2017, 42 have died, a rate of about "one fatality a month."

In other news, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has detailed a new initiative earlier this month that would add "brightly painted pavement markings" along the rail crossings to alert drivers of potential hazards.
