DEBATE ON THE RAILS OVER AMTRAK'S PROPOSED $80 BILLION WINDFALL

PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN $2 TRILLION INFRASTRUCTURE WOULD GIVE AMTRAK $80 BILLION OVER EIGHTS YEARS. This is a significant change for an enterprise that receives around $2 billion per year.

However, critics on both sides don't think it's enough.

Adie Tomer, the head of the Metropolitan Infrastructure Initiative at the Brookings Institution, stated, "It’s a massive number, and we’re a massive country and it is not enough to ensure that every corridor that benefits from high-speed rail service is going to get significant funding."
