Chairman of Citizens Against Rail Expansion in Florida said, "If anything at all, this gives us more of a reason to fight and protect the citizens who live along the corridor."

Brightline said it would "launch introductionary service between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale the week of Jan 8." Ticket prices and schedules are said to be announced Thursday on their new website.

"As far as them running trains from West Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale, nothing changes for us," said Martin County spokeswoman Martha Ann Kneiss. "It's just getting more real. People are realizing it's actually happening." The counties continue to review permit issues and reviewing rulings, she said.
